Primary Human White Preadipocytes (HWP) are isolated from adult subcutaneous or visceral adipose tissue from different locations.Adipose tissue is crucial in energy storage and metabolic homeostasis. An increase in adipose tissue results either from an enlargement of mature adipocytes or from the differentiation of adipocyte precursor cells (preadipocytes) into new mature adipocytes. These preadipocytes are already present in adipose tissues. Since this differentiation process is controlled by a variety of growth factors and hormones, preadipocytes are suitable for the investigation of the physiological mechanisms controlling proliferation, differentiation, and function of adipose tissue.The PromoCell adipocyte cell culture system provides preadipocytes with optimized growth media and serum-free differentiation media.Our subcutaneous HWP are now also available from Diabetes Type I and Type II donors. Our HWP are now also available from HLA-typed donors.

In addition, it produces mucus, which binds particles that are subsequently transported to the pharynx by cilia on the epithelial cells. HNEpC are useful for in vitro studies of these processes.Our HNEpC are now also available from HLA-typed donors.

Expression Systems offers insect cell lines adapted to serum-free suspension culture in either ESF 921 or ESF AF. The availability of pre-adapted cells saves significant time and expense associated with the adaptation of cultures.
The S2 insect cell line is derived from a primary culture of late stage (20-24 hours old) Drosophila melanogaster embryos. S2 cells are adapted for suspension culture in ESF 921 and are available as a frozen vial or suspension culture.

They stain positive for alkaline phosphatase and can be mineralized using PromoCell Mineralization Medium.Osteoblasts are of mesenchymal origin and are mainly responsible for bone formation and remodeling. In vivo, they produce a collagen type I rich extracellular matrix called the osteoid.During their development, osteoblasts undergo a maturation process called osteogenesis. When they become encased in the bone matrix, they stop proliferating and become osteocytes. Our HOB are now also available from HLA-typed donors.

Primary Human Skeletal Muscle Cells (SkMC) are isolated from different skeletal muscles (e.g. Musculus pectoralis major) from adult single donors (lot specific source information is available on request). They are positive for sarcomeric myosin and negative for smooth muscle specific α-actin.New skeletal muscle cells originate from quiescent satellite cells, which are located in the muscle fibers between the basal lamina and the sarcolemma. Quiescent satellite cells are activated by stimuli such as muscle damage. After activation, the cells, now called myoblasts, start to proliferate and fuse with damaged muscle fibers or with one another forming new myotubes.SkMC are optimal for in vitro muscle studies. They proliferate very well in the mitogen-rich PromoCell Skeletal Muscle Cell Growth Medium. Fusion to myotubes with typical multinucleated syncytia can be induced by using the PromoCell Skeletal Muscle Cell Differentiation Medium.
